DAUtec and Lufthansa Technik enter collaboration in aviation qualification
A formal agreement between German based Lufthansa Technik AG (LHT) and DAUtec GmbH has been signed. The agreement enables LHT to take full advantage of DAUtec’s aviation qualification program and the management of LHT’s environmental laboratory in Hamburg.
DAUtec’s agreement encompasses advising LHT engineers on the design of technical specifications, preparing documentation required for qualification, and with the planning and supervision of laboratory tests. More specifically, DAUtec will carry out qualification tests including electromagnetic compatibility and environmental tests according to RTCA DO-160 regulations and the MIL-STD-810 standard. The accreditation of the laboratory will be performed by DAUtec at Germany's National Accreditation Body, Deutsche Akkreditierungsstelle GmbH (DAkkS), according to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025, the European regulation setting out the general requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories.
Andrew Muirhead, Director of Innovation at LHT said that DAUtec's emphasis on delivering unsurpassed quality: “DAUtec’s engineering inspires us in every way by its technical quality, scope and timely delivery.”
Initially LHT will use the laboratory for in-house engineering and qualification tests, while subsequently the environmental laboratory will be enlarged and ultimately integrated into the TestCenter of the ZAL Zentrum für Angewandte Luftfahrtforschung GmbH (Center of Applied Aeronautical Research). ZAL GmbH will enter into an agreement with both LHT and DAUtec, and will commit to providing further investments in the test infrastructure which will benefit ZAL's partners during the development phase, and for certification and qualification purposes.
LHT and DAUtec have been collaborating since 2009 in the fields of test and qualification services, and the most recent agreement is a milestone in the ongoing collaboration of the two companies. DAUtec CEO and aerospace engineer Hans-Jörg Dau is looking forward to exploring the partnership with industry leader LHT: “Lufthansa Technik's guiding business maxim is focused on quality, with annual turnover and the size of LHT's choice of partner not being that crucial.
